Leaving St Petersburg

We have been in St Petersburg for four days, but this is a river cruise, remember? Today, we left St Petersburg on our river trip to Moscow. We will be at river (as opposed to "at sea") for five days.

Our first section of river is on the River Neva, which runs through Saint Petersburg, to Lake Lagoda, the largest lake in Europe. And look! where the Neva meet Lake Lagoda there is a fortress, 14th century I think, which was built by the Swedes to protect St Petersburg. 

We exit the lake into The Svir River. Note the beautiful sunset (It was about 11:30PM when this was taken, so it was dark by midnight).
