We have arrived in Helsinki, Finland. You can see from this photo that Donald is ecstatic to be on land again. The sun is up until about 11:00PM and rises again at 3:30AM. We were so exhausted from the airline torture that we haven't actually seen darkness yet.
We noticed that there isn't much traffic, and not even a lot of people walking around. Today we figured out that it's Finnish vacation month, and many people are just out of town. There are tourists, but it isn't really congested, which is great.
Here is some interesting information about Helsinki.
The bear is the national animal. There are imagines of bears on many 19th century buildings.
The , designed by Eliel Saarinen (1910-1961) build 1911-1941, was one of the earliest Art Deco buildings.
And I couldn't believe the hallways to the rooms in our hotel. The circles are spotlights from the ceiling, but look in front of the doors. Yes, those are the room numbers, somehow magically display on the floor. We can change the color from blue to red by turning an in-room switch to "Do Not Disturb", or to green by turning the switch to "Please Clean." It has a definite futuristic feel to it.

love the photo of the hallway lights!
Those room numbers must be easier to see if you're stumbling home drunk.
